This collection contains twentieth century records pertaining to the life and career of Asa Orin Bishop, long time general manager of sales for company stores at Pocahontas Fuel-Consolidation Coal in Virginia. Records include financial, operational and promotional materials for Pocahontas Fuel (and later, Pocahontas Fuel-Consolidation Coal) and Pocahontas United Methodist Church, as well as a variety of sales training resources. The collection features a range of materials such as photographs, newspapers and clippings, ledger books and correspondence.

Coal mine inspection records compiled by Earl W. Kennedy, mine inspector and safety manager. Includes notebooks of mine inspection records kept by Kennedy, memoranda regarding mine safety audits, safety training materials, and other material. Records mainly regard the Consolidation Coal Company (now Consol Energy, Inc.).

Unedited, unselected, and uncensored correspondence and business record of the now defunct Hammond Fire Brick Company of Hammond (Marion County), West Virginia. Includes correspondence for the years 1900-1931; shipping records indicating the type of brick, to whom sent, quantity sent, railroad, and the date for the years 1907-1913; freight bills from various railroads for the years 1906 to 1909 and 1921 to 1923; bills and orders, 1900 to 1931; one large payroll book with line entries for each worker listing days and hours worked with deductions for store, coal, etc., one unrelated account book for a store at Lancaster, Pa., for the years1803 to 1811; cancelled check files for 1906,1908,1921,1924 and 1928; and three sample bricks produced by the company.

Papers collected by the Barnes family of WV and Ohio regarding the Farmington Mine Disaster (1968 November 20) and its aftermath. Includes newspaper and clippings; letters of support from the Methodist Church and others to Rev. John Barnes; letters from both their mothers to his wife, Jacqueline Barnes; a handwritten narrative account by Jacqueline Barnes; and other material such as official reports from the coal company, Consol. Includes full issues (1968-1973) of various newspapers, mostly The Fairmont Times and The West Virginian (Fairmont, WV), and magazines from the national press, the United Methodist Church, and the United Mine Workers of America. Box 1 (1954-2009) contains the first-hand account, correspondence, reports, and some of the periodicals. Box 2 (1968 November 12-1973 October 11, 1993-2010) contains the newsapers and other periodicals such as Life Magazine.
