Background

Scope and content:

Coal mine inspection records compiled by Earl W. Kennedy, mine inspector and safety manager. Includes notebooks of mine inspection records kept by Kennedy, memoranda regarding mine safety audits, safety training materials, and other material. Records mainly regard the Consolidation Coal Company (now Consol Energy, Inc.).

The coal mine inspection records consist of notebooks kept by Kennedy from 1981 until July 1997 (box 1, folder 1 through box 9, folder 1). There are also scans of these notebooks located on a portable hard-drive (box 9, folder 7).

There are memoranda regarding mine safety audits sent by Kennedy in 1995 (box 9, folder 2); photographs of mine accidents (box 9, folder 3); material regarding Kennedy and his career (box 9, folder 4); books regarding mine safety training (box 9, folder 5); and DVDs of safety talks given by Kennedy (box 9, folder 6).

Material regarding Kennedy and his career includes resumes, a business card, correspondence, photographs, legal testimony, and other items (box 9, folder 4).
