Digital Accessibility Policy
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal civil rights law that
prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in everyday
activities.
It guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as
everyone else.
The ADA Title II new rule was finalized by the Department of Justice in 2024, establishing a new
technical standard — the
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1 AA
.
The website for the Archives of the Virginias is generously hosted by the
University of Virginia (UVA).
As such, ARVAS' compliance with ADA Title II is ensured by
UVA's digital accessibility standards
Should you encounter an accessibility issue with the ARVAS website, please report it to arvasarchives@gmail.com.
