The collection consists of one box of programs, news reports, schedules, rosters, ephemera posters and other materials related to William & Mary's men's and women's tennis teams. The earliest material in the collection pertains to the men's 1947 and 1948 National Championship victories, but the majority of the material in the collection is dated to the years after 1978. Two folders contain material pertaining exclusively to the men's team while two folders contain material pertaining exclusively to the women's team. The remaining three folders contain material pertaining to both teams.

There is also a folder of material pertaining to youth basketball camps held at the college in the 1980s and 1990s. Although the men's basketball team was organized earlier, the material in this collection is derived from the year 1925 onwards with a majority of the material pertaining to the years after 1970.

Ephemera collected by Geo. Gregory Smart related to the memory and popular image of George Washington. The collection includes postcards, calendars, cigar boxes covers, stamps and first day covers, programs for anniversary events, books and pamphlets, hat stands, billheads, stationary, cartes-de-visite, playing cards, and puzzles. Some items are catchy such as a hat stand touting the motto "friends you can hang your hat on," while others are designed to be more educational such as grade-school primers or the story of the presidents from the makers of Planters peanuts.

This collection includes material related to the resignation of President Gene R. Nichol of the College of William and Mary on February 12, 2008, and the response of the campus, alumni, and public. Material in the collection was created by a variety of formal and informal organizations and individuals and includes correspondence, fliers, videos, images, websites, news clippings, armbands, stickers, and a variety of other formats. Much of the collection is material produced in response to President Nichol announcing his resignation with a smaller amount of material from the months preceding the announcement. The collection includes material from individuals and organizations who were opposed to President Nichol as well as those who supported him. This collection does not include official College of William and Mary records produced by various offices. Those records will generally be housed with the collections for the creating office or department. Exceptions include communications from the Board of Visitors to the campus community.
