Background

Scope and content:

Maroon sweater vest with orange trim with "Va Tech" in orange on front. Worn by members of the first Women's Basketball Team at Virginia Tech in 1926. A tag on the inside of the collar reads "The Sutcliffe Co. LOUISVILLE, KY." The condition is fair, the sweater vest has moth holes and discoloration.

Biographical / historical:

Carrie Gudheim Spear graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1928. She was a member of the first women's basketball team at VPI in 1926.

This collection was acquired by the Special Collections and University Archive in Feburary 1993.
