- This collection includes a wooden plaque that reads "1888 VPI LANE HALL VA TECH" with a nail glued on to the bottom left. The plaque was created in 1996 from wood in the Lane Hall cupola. The wood was used in the erection of the building in 1888, when it was known as Barracks No. 1.

This plaque was made by Richard C. Jennelle using materials from the Lane Hall cupola in 1996. The materials for the plaque are from 1888 when the building was known as "Barracks No. 1."
