Bill of sale, 29 December 1811, noting the purchase of nine slaves from Pleasant (b. 1774) and Sally Talbott of Campbell County, Virginia, by Samuel Jones (d. ca. 1839) of Buckingham County, Virginia. Includes slaves' given names and gender. Proven in Buckingham County on 13 April 1812.
- Biographical / historical:
-
Samuel Jones was a resident and sheriff of Buckingham County. While no military service record for Jones has been located, he was at various times also known as Captain Samuel Jones and Major Samuel Jones. His estate is listed in the Buckingham County Personal Property Tax records in 1839; thus, he likely died circa 1839.
