The scrapbook was kept by Roy H. Keadle (1890-1961), eldest son of N.S. Keadle (1860-1935), first sheriff of Mingo County. Included are: several printed programs and invitations for functions in Williamson, West Virginia; one letter from Virgil A. Lewis, West Virginia State Historian; and a printed "Official Vote of Mingo County" for an election on 3 November 1909. Scrapbook contains photographs, postcards, calling cards, entertainment programs and news clippings. Included are: news clippings on the funeral of President McKinley and pre-World War I local Republican intra-party rivalry, campaign literature, and election ballots (in particular the 1914 ballot listing 5 parties).

The collection contains two letters written by Pvt Thomas R. Martin, Company F, 10th Virginia Cavalry (1st Cavalry Regiment, Wise Legion) to his parents. One is dated September 22, 1861 and written from Sewell, VA (now WV), the second is from Gordonsville in May 1863.

The Viola James Collection contains membership cards for James as a member of the Clarksburg, West Virginia chapter of the Women of the Ku Klux Klan, which are in a wallet marked with the initials "KKK". The collection also has a blank application form and printed Christian literature related to the organization. It also includes a small framed tintype of two unidentified little girls.

Daybook containing listings of names and dollar amounts for supplies sold from January 1936 to December 1940. Supplies sold appear to be related to coal mining and the daybook is believed to originate in Mingo County, West Virginia.

Meeting minutes document the services the commission provided and the issues that it faced from 1942 to 1958. Topics include budgets and financial issues, library extension services, staff positions, circulation and other usage statistics, conferences, field activities, and inventory and processing.
