The Order Books contain official orders and notices concerning the military regulations and operations, as well as the academic administration of the Institute. The definitions of Orders, Special Orders, and Memoranda overlap and vary over time.

A collection of postcards from various sources. The bulk of the items picture VMI buildings, events, and cadet life. Other topics include Stonewall Jackson and Little Sorrel, Lexington, and Rockbridge County.

Notebooks of clippings, illustrations, and blueprints relating to printing and presses in the United States and card files kept by Ralph Green. The notebooks concern presses from Patent Office records, photographs and engravings of presses, amateur and hobby printing, and samples of Green's printing.

Minute books of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, Moira Chapter (Franklin Co., N.Y.) for the years 1905-1906, 1911-1912 and 1939-1944.

Five binders of genealogy material related to the William Shingleton family compiled by David Merle Shingleton, Jr. Each volume of the genealogy focuses on one child of William Shingleton, a Revolutionary War veteran, and traces that line from the late eighteenth century to the late twentieth century. These descendants inhabited parts of Hampshire, Wayne, and Taylor counties in West Virginia and Washington County, Maryland.

This collection consists of 17 folders. In addition to the untitled book, designated the "Von Frieling Sammelband," the collection contains photocopies of the book and materials related to the 20th century version of Von Frieling's green butter salve, also called Von Frieling's plaster salve. These materials include documentation and packaging for the salve, patent paperwork, correspondence, and various items related to herbal medicine and early German printing, as well as two samples of the salve itself.

The collection consists of various objects, writings and ephemera pertaining to the Vowell-Creighton family. Most of the materials are from Hattie Vowell-Creighton. Writings include genealogical information and poetry written by Hattie. One piece of realia: a locket which includes a lock of hair, likely from Mary Vowell. There are a number of unidentified photographs, likely Vowell-Creighton family members. The oversized materials include certificates for the United Daughters of the Confederacy and an application for the Daughters of the Revolution.
