Ledgers, 1845-1854, of Alfred Parkins, miller of "Friendship Mills," Frederick Mills, Virginia, which contains grist mills accounts. MsV AmiG7 includes an index. According to the 1850 census, most customers lived in Clarke County, Virginia.

This collection contains a letter from Alice E. Nutt to her cousin, Kate, that discusses various personal matters before querying Kate on her impressions of Uncle Tom's Cabin (1852). Nutt, whose father was an ardent Virginia secessionist, articulates an unfavorable reaction to the recently published work and also addresses her disdain for the abolitionist efforts of English noblewomen. The letter measures 7.75" X 6.25" and is four pages in length. Some parts of the fourth page are written upside down in between lines. While there are small separations along old folds, there are no losses to the text.

Collection contains 21 letters between the Allen, Kean, and Laurence families of Virginia from the 1830s to the 1960s. Contents include mentions of the Allen family's estate, marriages, and World War II missionary ventures. Also includes two newspaper clippings regarding the Kean family.

This collection consists of twelve almanacs that range in date between 1850-1909.

The papers of prominent Barbour County native, Alston G. Dayton (1857-1920), a lawyer, politician, and West Virginia Federal Court Judge, including correspondence, professional papers and manuscripts concerning West Virginia politics and development of state industry. Also included are the papers of Dayton's father, Spencer Dayton, lawyer, and Fred O. Blue, lawyer. Correspondence offers much insight into the attitudes and goals of these men and into their considerable direct and indirect influence on the state's development and welfare.
