Lunenburg County (Va.) Marriage Licenses, 1866-1913, undated, include the following information: name of husband, name of wife, date license recorded in circuit court, date of marriage, place of marriage, full names of husband and wife, race, ages of husband and wife, condition of groom and bride at time of marriage (single, widowed, or divorced), place of birth (husband and wife), place of residence (husband and wife), names of parents (husband and wife), and occupation of husband. The marriage licenses also include marriage certificates signed by ministers who officiated the marriage. Information found in certificates includes name of minister, name of religious denomination, date certificate returned to courthouse, and signature of minister. The back of the license includes the page number and line number the marriage was recorded in the marriage register. The collection also includes a small number of unrecorded marriage licenses.

Lunenburg County (Va.) Ministers' Returns, 1850-1854, records the returns made by individual ministers of marriages performed within the county. The volume was originally titled, "Marriage Register, No. 1". As part of the return process, ministers filed marriage certificates with the county clerk. These signed documents certified that a minister had performed the actual marriage ceremony between the named individuals on a certain date. These returns took the form of lists.

Lunenburg County (Va.) Minute Book of Taxes, 1858, is a rough draft of personal property taxes compiled by the Commissioner of the Revenue. At the front of the volume is a list of district names and numbers. Categories taxed include whites and slaves over the age of 16, whites over the age of 12, free negroes between the ages of 21 and 55, slaves over the age of 12, horses, cattle, pleasure carriages, watches, clocks, pianos, gold plate, household furniture, officials fees, and various types of money and investments made as a merchant or businessman. The names are arranged alphabetically. There is no index.
