Collection contains letters between Frederic Baer & Willie Baer, newlyweds from Tarrytown NY, detailing life after service at Fort Dix & some mentions of service as a chiropodist in the US Army near the end of the war.

Letter from George W. Talbot in New York to E. Augustus Russell in Petersburg, Virginia in regard to a bill of lading

Two page letter from Amelia Court House, Virginia regarding the need for a loan in order to pay for debts. Tinsley does not go into great detail as to why he has fallen on such hard times except to blame the war for his embarrassing situation. He also informs his recipient that he cannot put up any sort of collateral against his loan except his honor.

Two letters, and three postcards addressed to Glenn Homard from various people and four postcards from Glenn Homard, all to Mrs. Samuel Wigney. One of the postcards from Homard is a Red Cross communication that the ship on which Homard sailed arrived safely overseas. Homard also indicates in his communications that he is stationed "Somewhere in France." Included with the correspondence is a photograph of Private William G. Stevens who was in the 12th Engineers, Detached out of Fort Sheridan, Illinois.

Seven page letter from Gordon Luck to his love interest, Leonora. Luck is a Private in the Army working at General Field Hospital #16 in France. Luck is a doctor who dispenses medications within the hospital. In his letter he informs Leonora that he was promoted to First Class Private which will increase his pay by $3.60 per month. Luck reports on his work, dealings with colleagues, and discourages Leonora for wanting to be in the war as it is not as glorious of an endeavor as she may think. He mentions a recent funeral to illustrate his point. He describes the town of Eu near the hospital, how prices are highest for US soldiers compared to Canadian and English soldiers because of their higher earnings. He also reports watching a Charlie Chaplain film, "The Property Man", a comedy called "Love, Mumps, and Bumps", and a western called, "The Outbreak". He also makes mention of the Eastman film he has his eye on and intends to buy along with his new camera at the end of the war.

Silver three pence coin from Great Britain depicting the bust of William III and Queen Mary. A hole was drilled into the coin, possibly done after Mary's death to evil spirits could exit the coin and render it safe for use. The Jeton has 20 stamped on it with an image of Queen Victoria on the verso. It, like the 3 pence coin, has a similar hole drilled into it at the crown of the Queen's head.

One sheet document showing the lease of equipment from Lt. H. Hayes to H. Allen of Company F of the 17th Regiment of the Confederate Virginia Infantry at Brooks Station, Virginia in June of 1863. Allen leases one shirt, blouse, three pairs of drawers, two pairs of shoes, four pairs of stockings, 11 forage caps, one knapsack, four haversacks, and ten boot straps.

Typed letter addressed to Ed from the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia thanking Mr. Wayland for his assistance in the campaign for constitutional amendments.

Papers maintained by Henry C. Wysor, of Dublin, Virginia, a Civil War veteran turned insurance salesman working for New York Life Insurance Company. Papers include business correspondence, bills, invoices, and receipts. Most of Wysor's correspondence is from life insurance policyholders living and working in southwest Virginia, including Radford, Wytheville, Abingdon, and Pulaski, but also in Bristol, Tennessee. Policyholders include real estate agents and upper-level management employees of coal mining and processing companies.
