Evelyn R. Klemstine Collection, 1994/2013 1.5 Cubic Feet

The Evelyn R. Klemstine Collection consists of several plaques, award certificates, medals and medallions; a framed certificate and medal, a framed American flag and certificate for civil service recognition, photographs, and a world clock. All of these items are from around the years of 1994-2013.

Shelton, Farrar (Farrar Vilas)
This paper describes the early meetings which lead to the creation of the farm demonstration work program. Farrar Shelton attended one of these early meetings as an eighth grader. Shelton later attended VPI and graduated with the class of 1915 with a degree in agriculture, he went on to become a county demonstration agent.

This collection contains a carbon copy of a 1867 letter written to Captain M. F. Maury from Francis Henney Smith at Virginia Military Institute, describing his time in Richmond and discussing a state agricultural and mechanical arts school.

Fighting Gobbler Needlepoint Canvas Patterns 1.0 Cubic Feet 1 folder

This collection includes two needlepoint canvas's with hand drawn Gobbler bird designs in orange and maroon. On one canvas above the Gobbler it reads "VPI." Printed on the tape border it reads "E.B. Orginals." On the other canvas it reads "VA. TECH." above the bird and "The Fighting Gobbler" below the bird. Both canvas's are templates for needlepoint, neither have been used.

F. P. Miles Letter to Henry C. Wysor, 1889 0.1 Cubic Feet 1 folder

Miles, Fielding P. (Fielding Peery), 1860-1890
The F. P. Miles Letter to Henry C. Wysor was a letter written by Miles in Blacksburg, Virginia, on July 18, 1889, to Wysor in Dublin, Virginia. The letter details an insurance payment to Wysor and is written on Virginia Agriculture and Mechanical College (now Virginia Tech) letterhead. Miles (1860-1890) was a professor of chemistry and geology at the college, while Wysor (1847-1927) was an agent for the New-York Life Insurance Company.
