Materials relate to Eggleston's tenure with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Hampden-Sydney College, as well as local religious and social causes. Several of the articles contain Eggleston's marginalia.

Joseph Lonsdale Hunter Mechanical Drawing Set, 1900 1.0 Cubic Feet 1 box

The Joseph Lonsdale Hunter Mechanical Drawing Set collection is housed in a small wooden box with a key hole. On the top of the box is a small gold plate, likely meant to be engraved but never was. Inside the box is a blue velvet lined tray that holds eight mechanical drawing tools. The lid of the box is lined with purple velvet. On the sides of the tray are two purple ribbons that lift the tray out of the box. Under the tray are two booklets, "Tables for Measuring Timber" and "Log Rule and Lumber Scale" from the Virginia Forest Service.

Letter from John Sanders Counselman, assistant professor of mathematics and civil engineering and assistant football coach at the Georgia School of Technology (today Georgia Tech) to Virginia Tech Professor Louis O'Shaughnessy, relating to a mathematical problem and to Counselman's experiences in, and views of, the game of football.

Lane Hall / Barracks No. 1 Plaque, 1996 1.0 Cubic Feet 1 box

This collection includes a wooden plaque that reads "1888 VPI LANE HALL VA TECH" with a nail glued on to the bottom left. The plaque was created in 1996 from wood in the Lane Hall cupola. The wood was used in the erection of the building in 1888, when it was known as Barracks No. 1.

The Larry McBryde Collection on the John McLaren McBryde Family, 1859-2013, contains materials concerning John McLaren McBryde, Sr., his brother Robert James McBryde, and their descendants. Primarily, the collection contains photographs, letters, family histories, and biographies about McBryde, Sr., who was president of Virginia Tech from 1891 thru 1907.

Lewis A. Hall Banjo and Case, 1922/1924 3.0 Cubic Feet 1 box

This four-stringed tenor banjo and case previously belonged to Lewis A. Hall, a member of the Collegians band in the 1920s. Handwritten on the banjo head is "THE COLLEGIANS" in black at the top, "VPI" in red across the center, and "BLACKSBURG, VA." in black on the bottom. The peghead identifies the brandname "Bruno."

This collection includes the papers of Lewis A. Hall, a 1924 graduate of Virginia Tech, consisting largely of memorabilia from his time at the university and as an active alumnus. Includes programs, certificates, textiles, and photographs, as well as drawings for engineering class assignments.
