Records of a local union of street car employees in Wheeling, West Virginia. There are minute books, correspondence, contracts, agreements, boards of arbitration hearings, and financial records, including membership figures and lists of members from the founding of the local to the late 1950s. The correspondence concerns mainly intra-union issues of seniority, transfers of membership, and local union governance, but there are also a few letters about Division 103's support of other organized workers and about the American labor movement. The records also include one folder of legal documents submitted to the Interstate Commerce Commission for consideration in its drafting of safety regulations for motor carriers. There is also an addendum [2010 February 03] of a copy of the March 1918 issue of "The Motorman and Conductor," a publication of this union.

Fred Mooney papers, ca.1935. 1 ms. Box and 1 bundle. Original manuscripts on "The Life of Fred Mooney, By Himself" and a scrapbook and newspaper clippings collected by Mooney. Mooney was a former secretary-treasurer of United Mine Workers District 31. A microfilm copy of the papers was made in 1961 and is filed under A&M 1428.

Mooney, one-time Secretary-Treasurer of the West Virginia United Mine Workers, relates his experience in the West Virginia labor movement, He covers the disturbances at Cabin and Paint Creek, 1912-1913; the abortive Miners March of 1919; the Matawan massacre of the Baldwin Felts detectives; the Miners Treason Trials in 1922; and a later dispute with John L. Lewis and the UMW that led to Mooney's resignation.

Minutes, correspondence, speeches, clippings, printed material, press releases, and other items concerning the Glass Workers' Protective League, which began in 1946 as the Four State Glass Workers' Protective League. It included glass workers from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana and was concerned with fighting the importation of cheap foreign glass. The papers deal mainly with the Burke-Hartke Bill, Bottle Bills, and national and international trade matters and include statements of union policy or position in these matters. There are minutes and correspondence, league constitutions, and a history of the Protective League.

This collection includes correspondence, pictures, pamphlets, periodicals, and minutes of meetings. There is material pertaining to all member unions in the county and to the Committee on Political Education (COPE). Microfilm contains the minutes of the Federation's executive board meetings from 1962 to 1968 and the minutes of COPE meetings from 1958 to 1969.
