Collections

This collection contains t-shirts collected by Dr. Anita Fellman, professor of Women's Studies at Old Dominion University, related to women's history, LGBTQ history, and African American history. Also included in the collection are political buttons concerning elections and women's rights.

Two Colonel Ebirt T-shirts, with an illustration of William and Mary's unofficial mascot, Colonel Ebirt created by Williamsburg-based Parkway Printshop. Colonel Ebirt is tribe spelled backwards and was the unofficial mascot for William & Mary from 2001-2006.

This collection contains a student ID card, a button from Family Weekend, as well as E. Strother Murray's personal papers. The papers include notebooks from courses in History, English, Anthropology, and German. The collection also contains orientation materials and a program from "EC 1992 and Beyond," a Public Policy conference at William and Mary in September of 1992. T-shirts that belonged to Murray are part of the University Archives Artifact Collection.

Collection contains 7 t-shirts from Michael Rogan's, William & Mary (W&M) Class of 1981, time as a student. The t-shirts includes 3 from Phi Mu Alpha, 1 from the Sinfonicron Production of the Mikado, 1 from W&M choir, 1 depicting the Bryan Complex, and 1 from the Backdrop Theater production of Camelot. The collection also includes 1 wooden fan with W&M feathers logo.

The records of the College of William and Mary men's a capella group Gentlemen of the College include internal and external correspondence related to public performances; the constitution and by-laws; fliers advertising performances and auditions; a history of the group; membership lists; photographs; an extensive collection of audiovisual material documenting both live performances and studio sessions; and several scrapbooks. A portion of the collection was created to mark the group's 10th and 20th anniversaries, however, material from throughout the group's history available.

This collections contains shirts, stickers designed and sold by the Vietnamese Student Association, and a poster advertising their 2023 culture show.

Established by American Studies Ph.D. Kevin Kosanovich working in Swem Library's Special Collections, the William & Mary Hip Hop Collection is the most comprehensive of its kind dedicated to Virginia's hip hop culture and history from the 1980s to the present. The collection includes oral histories committed to preserving and documenting Virginia's rich hip hop past, as well as recordings of hip hop music, publications, and ephemera created by Virginia and Virginia-based artists, collectives, and businesses. Additionally, the collection documents the origins and impact of hip hop culture on college campuses throughout the state by collecting records of hip hop based student organizations, college radio stations, events and concerts with a special focus on William & Mary itself.

The collection includes an administrative materials such as a manual, brochures, digital images, halftime show script and formations, and other materials from the student-run William and Mary Pep Band.
