Four letters written to Mr. or Mrs. Ballard Boswell:

The collection copperplate etchings of VMI scenes by artist Day Lowry. These were originally sold in sets of four by the VMI Alumni Association ($2.00 per set). They included Jackson Arch, statue, and Barracks; interior of Barracks; Washington Arch; and Dress Parade. A fifth etching shows Preston Library, which was constructed in 1939.

A hand-colored lithograph of Fort Monroe published by E. Sasche & Co. in 1861. The attached map is of the area around Fort Monroe produced by Casimir Bohn with period annotations handwritten in ink.

One print (w 24" x h 7 /34"), undated, illustrating the 21 April 1689 procession on the occasion of King William III and Queen Mary II's coronation as joint monarchs of England. The print is subtitled in German, translating to:

Prints and engravings removed from 18th century but mostly 19th century books or periodicals. Most prints cannot be matched with the book from which it came or the date. The location of the subject matter of each print or engraving is the primary criterion used in the organization of the collection.
