The manuscript is likely a production copy of "A brief survey of printing: history and practice" (1923; 0.03 cubic feet) by Stanley Morison and Holbrook Jackson. Sixteen additional leaves with reproduction printing samples pasted on. Fourteen of these reproductions are not present in the published version of this work, and two leaves contain notes handwritten by Morison. Duplicated pages of typed text on letterhead of "Linotype & Machinery Limited, London."

Nineteenth Century Invoices and Receipts Collection 0.20 Linear Feet

Invoices, receipts and related material for financial transactions during the nineteenth century, mostly in Virginia and on the East Coast. The collection is arranged alphabetically by the name attached to the document, with usually one document per name. Many items do not have locations, but most are in Virginia. These items give an overview of the types of goods purchased and the price of these purchases during the nineteenth century.

This German journal has The First Printing in Virginia by Douglas C. McMurtie tipped into the center of the volume. The back of the insert says 'Designed, composed in Linotype Baskerville, and printed by C. Harold Lauck at the Journalism Laboratory Press of Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia, U. S. A., for Philobiblon, a Book-Collector's Magazine published by Herbert Reicher, Vienna, Austria. December 1935'

Votes for Women printing block .03 Cubic Feet 1 folder (letter)

The collection contains a printing block measuring 6" x 7.5" x 1" made of wood and metal. The printing block is headlined "Roll of Honor" with a suffrage pennant emblazoned "Votes for Women" below. Underneath the pennant, an inscription reads, "Distinguished people who have declared themselves for woman suffrage." Beneath are columns titled "Statesman," "Preachers," "Men of Letters," and "Educators." These columns list names such as Mark Twain, Plato, and Jack London. Though uncredited, this block may have been produced by the Suffrage Atelier, an artists' collective founded in 1909 that campaigned for women's suffrage in England. The design and font also recall the aesthetic style of the Suffrage Atelier.
