This a a collection of diaries of William Couch Davis, Jr., and his wife, Mary Anderson Davis, including accounts of William's jobs in France (1917-19), Cuba, Savannah, and Norfolk. They include many details about the Davis family of West Point, Virginia. One of Mary's diaries covers their first married year (1924-25) in Cuba and others cover their trips (1935-1959) out west in Canada and to Central America and Europe.

Diary, describing the 1919 Easter week vacation of a family visiting the Hampton Roads area from Ohio. The diary is set in the context of World War I as the author describes sightings of submarines and seaplanes, and a visit to an aviation school and factory where they met aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss. The author and her family visit Old Point Comfort, Hampton and the church at Fort Monroe, and also discusses social events. Only about a third of the diary has entries.

It contains Nancy Clark Dotson's diaries from 1904-1946 (including photocopies, indices, and supplementary information), other Dotson family diaries and books, the marriage certificate of Franklin and Nancy Clark Dotson, a Dotson family history, a cabinet card and carte de visite album, a tintype album, a collection of glass plate negatives, and other assorted photographs.

Tabb's papers discuss life at 'Auburn,' their estate in Mathews County, including topics of hunting, female social life, detailed descriptions of the estate, servants, Tabb's wealth, and other topics. Includes clippings about the Auburn House. Also includes papers and correspondence (1947-1949) concerning genealogy done on the Tabb family.

This collection contains the diaries, 1912-1922, of Edgar Carl Hermann of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The first diary concerns Hermann's daily life as a worker for a railroad. There are two diaries from 1919, both of which describe Hermann's service during World War I. They include his service in France and Germany and his two week trip to Paris during his leave time. There are also diaries from 1920, 1921, and 1922.

Papers collected include colonial era documents, deeds, surveys, the diary of Sally Fairfax (1771-1772), legal papers, a copy of the Dettingen Parish (Prince William County, Va.) vestry book which contains minutes, indentures, and other (1745-1802), and photostat copy of the letterbook (1801) of Col. John Tayloe of Mount Airy, Va. Fairfax Harrison's papers include his correspondence with individuals and institutions concerning his interest in Virginia History. Prominent correspondents include John Stewart Bryan, David I. Bushnell, Worthington C. Ford, Douglas Southall Freeman, William G. Stanard, Clayton Torrence, Earl Gregg Swem, Lyon G. Tyler and Langbourne M. Williams. Subjects include Sir Edmund Andros,Francis Nicholson, Francis Fauquier, debtors' prisons, parish boundaries, Culpeper family, thoroughbred horses, county records, and the publishing of Harrison's works as well as the publishing of Robert Armistead Stewart's Index to Printed Virginia Genealogies and E. G. Swem's Virginia Historical Index. The collection also includes notes by Wilson Miles Cary concerning the Cary family and the books at "Carysbrook," Fluvanna County, Va.

This collection contains a diary kept by Frances Forrester-Brown while living and working in Guatemala in 1910. It details her life in Guatemala, including her interactions with public officials, her domestic and managerial duties, her work as a local lay-doctor, financial matters, and her struggles with her husband's illnesses.
