Two scrapbooks compiled by Dennis Wainstock that include clippings of the articles/editorials he wrote for the The Daily Athenaeum, the student-run newspaper, during his time as a graduate student in history at West Virginia University, from 1974 to 1984. Wainstock was an active member of the Socialist Party U.S.A. and the Morgantown chapter of the War Resisters League, a national secular pacifist organization founded by opponents of World War I. The articles include his perspectives and options on current events, debated political issues, and the political activities of the left-wing student groups at West Virginia University.

Edward M. Eustler's photographic scrapbook documents his experience while a student at Washington and Lee University from 1910-1911. The scrapbook has approximately 350 photographs. Subjects campus and dorm life, athletics, architecture, local landmarks and historic sights, fraternity and club initiations, the Lexington, Virginia downtown area, the Virginia Military Institute, faculty and staff, local residents such as Jeff Shields and Henry O. Dold, friends, and family. The scrapbook also documents Eustler and others at Camp Ogburn in Summerfield, North Carolina in the summer of 1910 as well as a camping excursion to the summit of North Carolina's Mt. Mitchell in 1911.

This collection contains one original letter dated Oct 28, 1880 and a photocopy of a letter dated September 1, 1880. Both letters are from Edwin A. Pratt to Emma Earle Chenault, who was the first woman doctor to practice medicine independently in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Pratt wrote the original letter while he was a student at Washington and Lee University and it describes campus and town life.

The magazine's content was created by students of Fairmont State College; the issues includes articles, jokes, cartoons, and other humorous or satrical pieces regarding campus and academic life.

The items in the collection include articles written by Lula Gilliam Hopkins, photographs taken by Sally Mann, a 1954 copy of a Matthew Brady photograph of Robert E. Lee, several family photographs, a booklet from a dance held in 1914, a letter from Gilliam as W&L Dean of Students to student John Willcoxon (class of 1952) presenting him with an award, and Frank J. Gilliam's (class of 1917) Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity pins. The collection also includes a scrapbook created by Gilliam as a student.

The front cover of the scrapbook has the name "Mark Kelly, '29" embossed on it, but the interior pages are specific to Shipman. This collection contains a scrapbook created by Fred M. Bailey while he was a student at Washington and Lee University. There are photographs, clippings, and ephemera throughout the scrapbook. The ephemera includes ticket stubs and event programs and broadsides. The newsclippings primarily pertain to athlethics. The first several pages of the scrapbook provided Bailey the opportunity to list some of his favorite things and describe events he attended and his impressions of them as well as tidbits regarding some of his W&L professors. It also provided space for Bailey to write one sentence a day regarding something he did or something that happened between September 1916-August 1917.
