Historical postcards and other material documenting the city of Wheeling, West Virginia. Includes ca. 600 postcards in two notebooks (each in its own box) of mostly photographic postcards recording views of Wheeling. Topics include Baltimore and Ohio Railroad depot, bridges, businesses, churches, flood of 1907, homes, hotels, ice skating, parks (Oglebay and Wheeling), roads, schools, steamships, street scenes (with automobiles, pedestrians, and trolleys), theaters, and wharf, among others. There are also two postcard booklets, seven historical photographs of downtown Wheeling (8 in. x 10 in.), two commemorative ceramic tiles for the Wheeling Hill Tunnels (1965, 1966), and two oversize prints of drawings by Loeschen of Wheeling (1995, 2009).

Facsimiles of printed material relating to Charles J. Faulkner (1806-1884), who was a Martinsburg attorney, Virginia legislator, member of Congress, and ambassador to France during the James Buchanan administration. Includes a printed circular relating to the opening of the Wheeling Bridge, 1849; an invitation to a public dinner given in honor of Charles J. Faulkner on 16 December 1852; and a printed message to the Democrats of Page County, Virginia from Faulkner (undated).

The office files of Charles McCamic of the law firm of McCamic and Clarke, Wheeling, West Virginia. McCamic was president of the Interstate Bridge Company; president and director of the Northeast Mississippi Oil Company; director of the Sehon-Stevenson Company; president and director of the American Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Company; and a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1905. The files contain correspondence, case papers, and business reports of clients; also papers of the companies with which McCamic was associated. The papers of the War Effort Committee of the West Virginia Bar Association, including correspondence from servicemen in World War II, are also in the collection.

Clippings, letters, broadsides, and articles written or collected by E.E. Meredith, author of the newspaper column, "Do You Remember," which appeared in the Fairmont TIMES-WEST VIRGINIAN. There are: copies of theatre programs, 1917-1919; electoral tickets, 1860, 1864; a proclamation by George B. McClellan, commanding the Department of the Ohio, 1861; and an open letter, "Monongahela River Bridge Underwriting Syndicate Managers," concerning the construction of the million-dollar bridge in Fairmont. Subjects include: Marion County, West Virginia; Augusta County, Virginia; farming account books, ca.1853, 1888; Barnsville; Barrackville Covered Bridge; banks and banking in Marion County, 1842-1892; blacksmith shops; buffalo; Marion County Historical Society; coal industry in the Fairmont region; a West Virginia Gold Mining and Milling Company certificate; Grafton and Greenbrier Railroad Company stock certificate; stock of Weston and Fairmont Turnpike Company; school teaching, 1819, 1824, 1850, and 1858. Personal and professional papers of Frank Duff McEnteer, a consulting engineer in Clarksburg, West Virginia who pioneered the use of reinforced concrete for the construction of buildings and bridges. His legacy as an engineer includes the design and construction of many bridges in West Virginia and other locations. Maher (1915-1995), an engineer specializing in aerodynamic research and an instructor in Engineering Science and Mechanics at Virginia Tech from 1937 to 1978. Includes consulting files and wind tunnel research on various building and bridge projects; research project files on aerodynamics and wind loads; academic courses; and materials relating to engineer and bridge designer David B. Steinman.

County and circuit clerks records, arranged chronologically. Records for the years 1835-1857, include bonds of ministers, tavern operators, ordinaries, ferries, and county officials; estate settlements; records pertaining to road, bridge, and public building; records of the overseer of the poor; school commissioners' and surveyors' appointments; and lists of county officials. Records for 1863-1874 include county supervisors' records; records of the Fairmont and Wheeling Turnpike; and muster certificates and reenlistment and bounty lists for the First, Second, Sixth, Seventh, Tenth, Fifteenth, Seventeenth, and Eighteenth West Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiments, the First, Third, Fifth, Sixth West Virginia Cavalry, the First Light Artillery Regiment, and the Forty-fifth Regiment, United States Colored Troops. Papers for 1867-1907 include justice of the peace records, United States Admiralty Court records, and road surveyors' statements.
