Daguerreotype of M. A. Valentine, probably from Virginia (sixth plate size, 2 3/4 in. x 3 1/4 in., wood case in excellent condition). Includes note inside the case authored by the subject of the photo that reads "This picture to be given to Mrs. Katherine Lee Long Simpson, M. A. Valentine". This item was found with photographs from the Richmond and Lynchburg Virginia areas; another daguerreotype in this grouping [not at the History Center] was stamped by the photographer Gibbs of Lynchburg.
