Background

Scope and content:

Issue of the San Francisco Daily Alta California newspaper from Tuesday morning, May 30, 1865. Of note are a short article announcing the death of Colonel John Kellogg in City Point, Virginia on April 25, 1865, which was of local importance since Kellogg had previously served as Commissary at San Francisco Depot; an advertisement for Shaw & Co's Fast Freight to Virginia; and a notice of a fund collecting $1 subscriptions to be presented to the late President's wife, Mrs. Lincoln.
