There are nine reel-to-reel tape recordings, some of which are duplicates, documenting: 1) speech by Bob Considine regarding "The Political Arena"; 2) ceremonies and speeches leading up to the inaugural address; and 3) the inaugural address of President Harlow. There is also a letter from Chester A. Arents, Dean, College of Engineering to Dr. James G. Harlow, President. Addenda to this collection, including an invitation card file and letters of congratulations, are listed in the scope and content note.

Initial Acquisition of 1968:
1968; 5 in. (one 5 in. document case) Sound recordings and other material related to the inauguration of James G. Harlow as 16th President of West Virginia University, 13-14 September 1968. There are nine reel-to-reel tape recordings, some of which are duplicates, documenting: 1) speech by Bob Considine regarding "The Political Arena"; 2) ceremonies and speeches leading up to the inaugural address; and 3) the inaugural address of President Harlow. Addendum of 1971/04/16:
1968; 6 in. (two 3 in. small flat storage boxes) Three card file boxes containing cards for colleges and universities, individuals, and learned societies who were sent invitations to Dr. Harlow's inauguration; also contains cards for delegates from learned societies attending.
