Background

Scope and content:

Correspondence of A.M. Reese, former professor of Zoology at West Virginia University dealing with venom of snakes, lethal doses, and some antidotes. Most of the letters regard the swallowing of young snakes by their mother for protection. Other subjects include an experiment with rats and traps and unusual animal foods of man. There is also a reprint of "Habits of the Menopoma."

Correspondents include: Col. M. L. Crimmins, Richard W. Westwood, R. K. Stewart-Hay, Clarence H. Kennedy, D. S. Spence M. B., Charles M. Bogert, John F. McCloskey, F. A. Hanawalt and J. Kalin.

There are lecture and speech notes, references to controversy over evolution and inheritance of acquired characteristics, and assorted newspaper and magazine clippings of interest to a zoologist.
