Scope and content:

Office files and correspondence of Dr. Core, head of the Biology Department, editor of Castanea, and well-known biologist. Collection includes multiple addenda, all of which have been interfiled except for the addendum of 1978/01/17.

Includes personal and business correspondence from the time Dr. Core served as Chairman of the WVU Department of Biology (ca. 1951-1969). Some correspondence (1967-1969) pertains to the Morgantown Public Library.

Additional correspondence of 1971, Aug. 12 and Sept. 1, pertains to Core's duties as department chairman of Biology, as an officer of the WV Nature Conservancy, and as editor of Castanea.

Correspondence and office files of Dr. Core, Emeritus, Department of Biology (ca. 1974-1978) include the publication of Flora of West Virginia, part 4, and the West Virginia Encyclopedia.

Addendum of 1978/01/17 includes 4 boxes of business and personal correspondence of Dr. Core (1973-1976).
