Background
- Scope and content:
-
Microfilmed county court records consisting of one tax book for Hardy County, 1818-1820; and one minute book, 1786-1791.
The tax book includes an account of taxes in Hardy County for the years 1818-1820. It has an alphabetical index at the beginning with the names of the people taxed. This record includes information on the number of enslaved people for whom a person was taxed, as well as property for which they were taxed.
The minute book is a microfilm version of a typescript copy of the original Minute Book of the Hardy County Court, covering the years 1786-1791. It was transcribed at WVU as part of a WPA project.
