Scope and content:

Papers of Harlan Bovell Selby (1896-1978) of Morgantown, West Virginia. Harlan grew up in Tacoma, Washington; served in World War I (WWI); graduated from West Virginia University in 1923; and apparently managed an office supply store in Morgantown for many years (Laidley and Selby, on High Street).

Includes photographs and ephemera regarding Harlan Selby, including a football team group portrait from a high school in Tacoma, Washington (where he spent his childhood); WWI portrait photographs; and a wedding invitation for his marriage to Louise Clemson in Morgantown in 1923; among other photos. There are also two letters to him from his father (1908, 1914); two yearbooks ("Tahoma"), each for both Stadium High School and Lincoln Park High School of Tacoma, Washington combined (1916, 1917); and architectural drawings for his home. In addition, there are unidentified photographs, including tintypes, and mounted prints by photographers in mostly the Tacoma, Washington area (presumably of the Selby family and relatives).

Addendum of 2017-07-19; boxes 3-4; ca. 1915-1924.

Box 3 contains a photo album and an envelope of negatives (ca. 1915-1923). Album includes images of Harlan Selby's home in Washington state and surroundings, as well as his life in Morgantown, WV as a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.

Box 4 includes mostly unidentified photos and negatives, some from Harlan's time at WVU, some scenic views of places near his home in Washington state, and more (ca. 1915-1924?).
