Letters dating 1890 to 1892 between Mary L. Kelley of Henry and Jacob Hartman of Terra Alta and Cranesville depicting their long distance courtship in Preston County, West Virginia. Daily events, activities, and people of Preston County are briefly mentioned, including horseback riding, sleigh rides, dances, and church activities. There are three letters from 1901, 1927, and 1952 addressed to Mary Kelley-Hartman from correspondents in Morgantown and Charleston, West Virginia telling of daily life.
