This collection contains records of the Selective Service Office, West Virginia Headquarters, dating from 1956 to 1969. Materials include directories of the West Virginia Selective Service Headquarters, internal newsletters, and administrative records that reflect communication and organizational practices within the agency. The collection also contains a certificate of appreciation recognizing five years of service by R. P. Davis, signed by state and federal officials, including the Governor of West Virginia and President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Additional materials consist of internal communications such as speeches and appointment approval notices.
Boxes 2 and 3 contain documentation related to draft deferments, including records pertaining to deferment policies, registrant classifications, and the administrative processing of deferment requests.
