The collection consists of an 1884 Wythe County tax ticket issued to Augustus Repass of the Wytheville District for $3.87 in personal property tax, state tax, road tax, school tax, and county tax.
- Biographical / historical:

Augustus Repass, son of Frederick Repass and Rachel Harkrader Repass, was born on 1 October 1814. He married Catherine Tarter on 4 March 1845 and lived in Wythe County, Virginia. He was a farmer; he and his wife had several children including HIram Repass, Elzabeth Repass, Rhoda Repass, Elbert J. Repass, Caroline Repass, John Repass, and Laura Repass.
