Receipted account of Col {William} Preston with Williamsburg silversmith James Geddy, Jr., for 9N19s3p; items and services purchased include jewelry, silverware, buckles, studs, and watch repairs.

Biographical / historical:

James Geddy Jr. established his silversmith and jewelry business in 1760, having purchased family land from his mother. Geddy built the current two-story L-shaped structure on the property in 1762. He operated as a silversmith on this site until late 1777, when he moved to Dinwiddie County, Virginia, and then to Petersburg, where he died in 1807.
