Scope and content:

The bulk of this collection contains newsletters collected by the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF), an underground high-tech machine nearly a mile around. CEBAF is located in Newport News at the Jefferson Laboratory of the College of William and Mary.Acc. 1985.48 includes the Southeastern Universities Research Association's (SURA) proposal for locating a national electron accelerator laboratory at the Virginia Associated Research Campus and the Space Radiation Effects Laboratory. It includes support letters from College of William and Mary President Graves and the proposal prepared by Hans C. von Baeyer.Acc. 2008.174 includes proposals and related material which may be duplicated elsewhere in this collection.
