Background

Scope and content:

Pencil drawing of Thomas Bewick, "Drawn on the block by Wm. Nicholson, Chas Nesbit sc." Signed by Bewick and circa 1820. Also, three original portraits of Thomas Bewick, two are wash drawings from life on one sheet by Charlton Nesbit and T.A. Kidd. A separate sheet shows an additional Kidd drawing done from a painting by Miss Kirkly. The Newsbit drawing is signed by Bewick, also circa 1820.

Purchased by Barry Scott Antiquarian Rare Books with funds from the Forsyth Special Collections Fund, 2017.
