Background

Scope and content:

The collection includes ephemeral items related to Butlers time as a student at William & Mary, as well as a couple of newsletters published post-graduation. Included in the collection are notices received during his freshman year regarding the school's automobile policy, a letter sent to parents of freshmen males from the Dean of Men, an outline of academic requirements, and "Welcome to William and Mary" sent by the Dean of Students. There are also notices regarding tickets for William & Mary Theatre performances for "Lola" and "Henry IV, Part I," a letter sent to members of Pi Delta Epsilon, campus event programs, William & Mary brochures, a postcard of the Wren Building, a postcard of the William & Mary Choir, the September 1963 issue of the William & Mary Theatre newsletter, a small William & Mary felt pennant, a black/white photograph of the William & Mary Band, a black/white photograph of Butler and his mother taken in Anapolis, Md. while he is wearing his band uniform, ticket stubs to football games, and the Spring 1978 and Fall 1979 issues of "William and Mary Historian," the newsletter of the Dept. of History.

Biographical / historical:

Patrick Butler graduated from William & Mary in 1967. He was on staff with the Colonial Echo and a member of several student groups and organizations, including W&M Band, Circle K, the History Club, and the Young Republicans.
