Photographs, circa 1960s-1970s, of various locations in Virginia, taken by the National Aerial Photography Program of the United States Geological Survey.The National Aerial Photography Program is a Federal project that is coordinated by the United States Geological Survey. The photographs are used to create and revise topographical maps of the United States. They are taken in cycles ranging from 5-7 years from an airplane flying at an altitude of 20,000 ft. and they cover an area that is slightly over 5 miles.
