Scope and content:

Hand-written receipt,1862, signed by J. M. Martin, agreeing to pay Sally A. H. Hunter 270 dollars for farm labor of persons enslaved by her, namely Joe, Austin, and Beverly. In addition, Martin agreed to provide them with clothes, as well as furnishing them each with a blanket and hat upon their return to Sally Hunter at the end of each year.
