This collection contains photographic prints, negatives, and slides that were taken on various assignments by Chiles T. A. Larson as a photographic journalist. The photographs include images taken by Larsen while an undergraduate at William & Mary and include images of sports, Greek life, campus scenes, drama and television productions, and the Norfolk Division of William & Mary, today known as Old Dominion University. The Norfolk Division photographs supported an article published in the Alumni Magazine in 1960. Also present in the collection are color slides of the Highland estate of James Monroe, owned by William & Mary, taken by Larson on assignment for an article in the Spring 1995 issue of the Alumni Magazine.

Chiles Thomas Adams Larson (1929-2021) was the son of Ralph Kermit Thomas Larson (W&M student 1924-1925). Chiles Larson came to undergraduate studies at William & Mary in 1949 from Maury High School, Norfolk, Virginia. After one year he left college life for military service during the Korean War. Chiles Larson returned in 1956 and graduated with a B.A. in business in 1959. He was the author of Virginia's Past Today (1998) and Barboursville Vineyards: Crafting Great Wines Inspired by Spirits of the Past (2008).
