Background

Scope and content:

The collection consists of academic materials and writings including 23 spiral notebooks, 42 bound noteboooks, and 1 term paper by Russel T. Smith. Notes taken in history and education classes at William & Mary (1970-1972, 1979); as well as notes in English, geology, government, and history classes at the University of Texas (1963-1969) are also included. The collection also contains a personal family history and manuscript composed by Russell Smith entitled "Random Reminiscences of the College of William & Mary During the 1970s." The manuscript is restricted until the death of the author.

Biographical / historical:

Russell T. Smith was a student at William & Mary from 1970-71, 1972-75, and 1976-81.

Arrangement:

The Russell Smith papers contain three series: Series 1. Class notes, Series 2. Restricted Materials and Series 3. Personal papers.

Accruals:

Series 2 (restricted manuscript) received in 2002.
