The letter, December 6, 1930, from Hervey Allen, Felicity Hall, Somerset, Bermuda, to the noted Poe collector, Richard Gimbel, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, states that "reasons for Poe's leaving Philadelphiaon April 6th 1844 to go to New York..." are fully discussed in Allen's Israfel: The Life and Times of Edgar Allan Poe; reveals the strong motive of Poe to leave Philadelphiato go to New York; and, refers to one of Poe's residences on N. 7th Street.
