Scope and content:

This addition to the papers of Edgar Finley Shannon Jr. (1918-1997) contains materials from 1956-1997. Topics of interest include University of Virginia English Department Business, correspondence and documents related to Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation work, research and work on Alfred, Lord Tennyson, and correspondence and documents related to work with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Collection also includes a letter from President Jimmy Carter to Edgar Shannon, dated February 16, 1987.
