- The 20 bound ledger books that make up the Business Affairs - Accounting Ledger Books collection provide detailed accounting documentation of the fiscal operations of Radford Normal and Radford College from 1911 through 1936.The earliest ledgers record the initial operating expenses of the College starting in 1911, and include expenses related to the initial development of the Radford campus, the creation of the College infrastructure and staffing, general procurement of the items and services necessary to open the college doors in 1913, and the first student account records starting in September 1913. The remaining ledgers document the fiscal operations of Radford through 1936, including detailed accounts of student tuition and fees. The 20 bound ledger books that make up the Business Affairs - Accounting Ledger Books collection provide detailed accounting documentation of the fiscal operations of Radford Normal and Radford College from 1911 through 1936.Ledger 1 details account activity from 1911-1916 and includes supplies, equipment, advertising, office supplies, telephone/telegraph bills, utility bills, salaries, maintenance and the presedential expense account.Ledger 2 details bank accounts from 1912-1915 and the first student account records from 1913-1914. Ledger 3 includes receipts and expenses from 1915-1920 which includes payroll.
Ledgers 4-17 document student accounts from 1920-1936 and there is also one index from an unknown year. Ledgers 18-19 are a record of correspondence course students. Ledger 18 covers the years 1932-1943 and Ledger 19 covers the year 1945. Finally, Ledger 20 is the disbursement book which includes payments and salary information from 1921 to 1928.
