Scope and content:

William Carlin was a tailor in Alexandria. His account book is among our treasures and includes entries for clothes made for the Washington's, members of the Mount Vernon household, and other Virginia customers such as the Fairfax's, George Mason, and David Ramsey. Entries for George Washington span from 1765 to 1771 and this receipt corresponds directly to entries in the account book. The services on the receipt include 'making a suit for Frank' and 'altering a pr. Lether (sp) Bretches to Giles.'
