Background

Scope and content:

This collection contains a philosophy notebook kept by Devereux Hanson sometime between 1927-1931 while he was a student at Washington and Lee University. In addition to writing his name on the front cover as well as the subject matter, he also wrote the Greek initials for the house he was in, Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

Biographical / historical:

Devereux Hanson was born in 1908. He graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1931. He died on April 27, 1953.
