Scope and content:

This collection contains two land grants issued by King George III of England to Thomas Goolsby for land in Amherst County, Virginia. Both grants are dated February 16, 1771 and signed by William Nelson.

Acquisition information:
These land grants were previously housed in the Washington and Lee University Miscellaneous Archives collection and were transferred to Special Collections and Archives by the Treasurer's Office post-1978.
