Scope and content:

This collection contains a certificate awarded to Lyle Moore Moffett by Washington and Lee University for proficiency in French on June 15, 1904. There are doodles on the certificate, and the date "16th day of June 1909" is handwritten on it.

Biographical / historical:

Lyle Moore Moffett was born on October 25, 1882 in Virginia. He graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1904. He died on February 15, 1962.
