This collection contains five certificates of distinction awarded to James Harvey McCown by Washington and Lee University in 1872 and 1874. They were for the study of French, Latin, rhetoric, mathematics, chemistry and geology.

James Harvey McCown graduated with a B.A. from Washington and Lee University in 1874.

Gift of Rachel McNeil Robinson in memory of her uncle, Rev. James H. McCown, WLU Class of 1874, in 1975.
