Background

Scope and content:

This collection records the life of Tate Thomas Brady and his wife, Bonnie Fillingane and their family. Tate grew up at the Buffalo Forge estate in Rockbridge County, Virginia, greaduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksburg, Montgomery County, Virginia, and worked for Virginia Power Company in various positions and locations in Virginia. Most of the collection includes personal and business correspondence and papers of his family, who lived at the Buffalo Forge estate. Some of the family material includes his brother Douglas "Pat" Brady, Jr., father Douglas E. Brady, Sr., grandfather and grandmother Daniel C. E. and Emma Brady, and great grandfather Charles Patrick "Pat" Augus Brady. Most of the remainder of the collection concerns Tate and Bonnie and their families, which includes correspondence, photographs, their social life, and genealogies. Also included are papers of Sgt. Tate Brady, WWII. A record storage box of slides and books.

Biographical / historical:

Thomas Tate Brady and his brother, D. E. "Pat" Brady grew up at Buffalo Forge plantation in Rockbridge County, Va.
