Scope and content:

The "Brother Rat" collection consists of photographs, playbills, clippings, correspondence, and other items documenting the stage and film versions of "Brother Rat."

Biographical / historical:

"Brother Rat" by Fred F. Finklehoffe and John C. Monks, Jr. was a play and subsequently feature film. Set at VMI, from which the authors graduated in 1932, the play was a Broadway hit in 1936 and was subsequently produced by many regional theaters. The film was produced by Hal B. Wallis for Warner Brothers Studios in 1938. Its stars included Ronald Reagan, Eddie Albert, and Jane Wyman.
