Background

Scope and content:

The bulk of the Charles F. Bryan, Jr. papers consist of correspondence (approximately 200 items) between Bryan and his future wife Carolyn E. Bryan (Mills). A majority of these letters were written during Bryan's cadetship (1966-1969). These papers also include 19 photographs (dated 1966-1984) of Bryan and his family, two small notebooks, and two newspaper clippings.

Biographical / historical:

Charles Faulkner Bryan, Jr. was born in 1946 in McMinnville, Tennessee to Charles F. Bryan, Sr. and Edith Bryan (Hills). He graduated from VMI in 1969 and went on to become a historian. Additional biographical information about Bryan can be found here.
